How long have you been in business?
We started Sea Burial in 1999
What is your primary product or service?
We provide a dignified alternative to a traditional land burial. We scatter your loved ones ashes on the sea. We customize the service to your loved ones request from a basic sea burial to a Viking funeral. I show the respect and dignity to your loved one that I want for myself when my time comes.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have a great love and respect for the sea. I was in the Ocean and observed a fishing boat throwing something in the water while they were fishing. I asked them what they were doing and they jokingly told me they were doing sea burials as they were fishing. This was not the type of burial I would want for myself or my loved ones.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I believe that a soul set free in the sea will always be with you when you are near the water. The sea is like a person it can be comforting, calm, wild and peaceful. I placed my mother in the sea and is comforting that she is near. I attend every Sea Burial, I do not just book you on a boat and forget about you. I work with the family to make this time respectful but also a celebration of life.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Presently we sail from Manasquan Inlet, Barnegat Inlet, Cape May.
