How long have you been in business?
Seven Years since Victoria on Main Bed & Breakfast, opened it's door in February 2003
The Victorian Tea Room, inside the Inn, just opened in 2006.
What is your primary product or service?
We have two seperate businesses. We provided lodging and hospitality to those visiting Toms River at the Bed & Breakfast.
In the Victorian Tea Room we serve High Tea, scones, finger sandwiches, and delicacies to the public and our guests.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My interest in owning a B&B started as a dream many years ago. I have a nursing background and have recently retired from a pharmaceutical company.
Opperating the Inn, meeting new people, cooking, baking, and arranging excursions for visitors; is interesting and fulfilling for me.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My inn is in a Historic House with a stately history. It is named the Mathis-Berry House, and Thomas Mathis lived here while he served as governor of New Jersey.
The elegant Greek Revival Building is furnished with Victorian antiques.
Both the Bed & Breakfast and The Victorian Tea Room are the only ones in the Toms River area, so we are different by being exclusive.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have just one location with no plans to expand. A B&B really adopts the personality of the building that houses it. It would be difficult to find another building caomparable to the Mathis-Berry House.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are located the the Historic Downtown area of Toms River, just off the NJ Parkway. Take to NJ Parkway to Exit 82 toward Seaside Heights. At the first traffic light turn south on Rte 166(Main Street). We are about 1/2 mile down Main Street on the right. Parking is in the rear, off Broad Street.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover crdit cards and of course cash.
Which areas do you service?
Since we accomodate many visitors to our area, we do not really service an area. Anyone who prefers B&B to hotels or motels may search us from a greater distance.
Located in the Downtown area, we service the business travelers to Toms River.
I do get many international visitors, and in the summer, many visitors come from Northern NJ and New York for the ocean beachs.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I, Regina, own and operate the B&B and Tea Room. Of course, I solicit help for maintenance and part time assistance when needed.
What are your hours of operation?
We operate the B&B 24 hours a day since guests spend the night with us.
The Tea Room operates Wednesday through Sunday 1:30 to 5:00 by reservation.
Both businesses are closed in the winter.
