Customer Reviews for INSPECTION SERVICES OF NJ

I hired Joe McGrath to inspect my home had NOTHING but issues with him. He was late to the inspection, late to deliver the report - which turned out to be incorrect "due to his email stripping out photos from the PDF". So then I had to wait another week for the correct one (which was still incorrect). His communication is terrible and he is FAR from an effective or knowledgeable inspector.
It turns out his inspection missed MAJOR structural and design issues in the roof that WERE NOT obscured in any way. My attic is very big and built atop the original concrete roof (yes, concrete) – so you can walk around freely and inspect from the ridge to the gutter edge. He failed to notice that the wall in my addition is built below grade (and this is obvious if you know what you’re looking for). Many other smaller things were missed too (gas pipes not secured in utility room, electrical wire going directly through concrete sans conduit, exposed dry rot, no caulk around windows, mold on garage ceiling, bathroom fan vents into the attic). These are just a few of the things he missed – I could truly write a book.
Unfortunately I relied on his report and bought the house - don't make my same mistake. What a nightmare!

I hired Joe McGrath to do a home inspection because no one else was literally available at the time to do the inspection and I truly regret it. He was a half hour late to the inspection and missed numerous issues with the house. First off, the bathtub faucet was faulty and was never mentioned in the report. Then, the water in the crawlspace he told me could be remedied by wells around the vents. Flash forward a year later with vents around each vent and I have over 3 inches of water in my crawlspace. I right this review as I prepare to spend a great deal of money to regrade my home, something that any competent inspector would have picked up on. I feel like this guy was working more for the seller then me and I was the one who hired him. Do yourself a favor and please shop around for a better inspector.

Do not use! Check the department of community affairs! His license expired April of 2019! Not to mention he has many complaints, you can also see that on the site and on search engines

Late, took WEEKS to get report that turned out, omitted major problems with staircase and windows. I should have done a background check first as I now know no he has numerous lawsuits filed against him and bankruptcies
